If God doesn't exist, then...

Question 1
Where did we come from?

Answer
Science says we evolved. Religion says God did it. Science may be wrong, but "God did it" explains nothing.

Question 2
What's the purpose of life?

Answer
Wish I knew. The best I can tell, it is to create. I suspect that's not why, but saying it was God's will explains nothing. Haven't you ever wondered why a perfect being would want to create something? Why would a perfect being want anything at all?

Question 3
Why do people want so much to believe in God?

Answer
Well, first, it was many gods. Only recently have people dwindled the number of deities down to a one-stop shop. People just want an explanation for the whys and hows of life. Oh, and don't forget death.

Question 4
Why does nature look designed if it isn't?

Answer
Looks can be deceiving. Matter looks solid, for instance, but look at it under a powerful enough microscope and it's mostly empty space. That doesn't prove that empty space wasn't designed, but if it was, nothing says it was a single bearded white man sitting up in the sky who did it.

Question 5
Why are people so much happier after finding God?

Answer
It's the same reason that people are happier after winning the lottery: wish fulfillment.

Question 6
How do you explain [Jesus, Mohammad, Joseph Smith, Mel Gibson]?

Answer
Insanity? Delusions of grandeur? Sleep deprivation? Hollywood?

Question 7
How do you explain morality?

Answer
Morality comes from socialization. It is a set of social dos and don'ts that change over time. It is not implanted inside our brains by a divine being. To think so shows ignorance of biology, denial of evolution, and a presumption that you, personally, would steal, kill, or destroy for sport without that being controlling your thoughts and emotions.

Question 8 NEW
How do you account for the laws of logic?

Answer
Stuff makes sense because we make sense of it. Don't confuse mind with matter or cause with effect.

Question 9 NEW
Why is the universe fine-tuned for life?

Answer
The bigger question is why there is something rather than nothing. I don't know the answer to the bigger question, except to avoid it by asking in return how anyone would know what nothing means without something with which to compare it, but the first question is a no-brainer. Asking why the universe is fine-tuned for life is like asking why water is made for drinking. It's the wrong question.
