“Do you believe in god?”

“Yes.”

Obviously, you’ve never seen the late George Carlin perform (I saw him twice). His comment, which you’ve taken out of context, was to illustrate the fact that the mindset of many fundamentalist Christians is such that “if you don’t believe in the God I believe in, you deserve to die”. George Carlin found that kind of mindset repugnant, and was very vocal in saying so.

One more thing….Unitarian Universalists aren’t atheists. Many of them are non-theists (don’t believe in a religious creed or theology), many are Buddhist, Jewish, former Catholics, etc. I should know–I AM a Unitarian Universalist.

Linda, thanks for your comment. The title of this post is not meant to be taken seriously.

I see your point UK. It is quite often that the strong belief in what one considers their “truth” is enough for them to be irrational towards others whose views are not the same. This is usually where the term “not a true Christian” comes from. Now really, who is the authority to judge that?
